An Episode in Dating: Oooo GURL!

“Oooo GURL! So tell me WHAT HAD HAPPENED WAS!”
“Jarrod, if you don’t stop playing around and yelling in my ear, I’m gonna reach into this phone and snatch you.” It was the day after my big oyster dinner with Matt and I was feeling the vodka from the night before. Okay Advil, you can kick in any minute now.
“Alright Ms. Tipsy Tuesday I’ll take it down a notch. So tell me what happened?”
“Well, we got the whole business with Random Guy taken care of and that’s when he starts in with ‘I’m not the kind of guy to date more than one guy at once’ thing.”
“So you had ‘the talk’ then?”
“Well yeah, I guess. We agreed that it was definitely too early to call anything we’re doing a relationship, and given our past experiences neither one of us is looking to rush into really calling it anything. So we agreed that we are both ‘getting to know each other’ pretty much exclusively and if the physical exclusivity were to change, then we would let each other know.”
“Who brought up physical exclusivity?”
“He did. Actually he was kind of insistent on it.”
“Wow, that’s a pretty good sign.”
“Yeah I guess but …”
“But what?”
“Well, Matt made some comment that was a little random. I don’t know, maybe it was the drinks but it stuck in my head.”
“What was it?”
“He mentioned us being physically exclusive and he said something like, ‘besides it’s unsanitary’ which I assume he meant us dating and not being physically exclusive.”
“Yeah, that’s a random phrase but I agree with where he’s coming from.”
“Speaking of exclusivity, how are things with you and Tyler?”
“Things are good. We’ve been hanging out a lot lately. I’ve met his sisters and brothers and we’ve gone to my church together a few times. He’s a really sweet guy and I want you to meet him. Do you have any plans yet for the weekend?”
“Matt and I are going out to the beach this weekend for the Rehoboth Beach Film Festival.”
“Weekend away together? Big step.”
“Yeah, friends of mine from Philly are lending me their place so it should be a nice, relaxing getaway. You know what? The place is huge; you and Tyler should come out and spend the weekend with us. It’ll be fun!”
“I’ll talk to Tyler and see if we can both make it. I want to meet Matt and see what he’s like. BEACH WEEKEND!”
“Jarrod!”
“Sorry Ms. Tipsy.”
