An Episode in Dating: The Big Night
“New York’s Penn Station in 20 minutes. Penn Station.” Matt and I enjoyed our leisurely train ride into The Big Apple and were about to embark on our NYC New Year’s Eve adventure. We came up the day before NYE to explore the city and have some alone time before Jarrod and Tyler arrived.
The train pulled into Penn Station and we cabbed it downtown to our hotel; a cute little boutique that was suggested by a friend of a friend. The hotel room itself was amazing: a double suite encompassing a shared living room, dining room and kitchen area with two bedrooms at opposite ends.
“What a great suite” said Matt.
“Yeah it is. If the room is any indication then I’m sure we’re going to have a blast ringing in the New Year.”
“Ring-a-ding Ding.” Matt pulled me close for a long passionate kiss.
“I’m really glad you accepted my invitation. It’s been fun getting to know you these past 3 or 4 months and I’m looking forward to getting to know more about you.”
“Well I’ve enjoyed getting to know you too Daddy-K; inside and out.” Matt kissed me again. “Let’s go grab some dinner shall we?”
I took Matt to Il Bastardo, an Italian place in Chelsea that I discovered on a date a few years back. The food and wine list were excellent and we had a fun time eating, talking loudly and people watching.
Matt and I walked back to the hotel holding hands openly without a care in the world. Matt’s grasp was firm and protective but still warm. It was the first time we held hands like this and it felt good.
As we entered the hotel, I made some off-hand comment about not getting a chance to skinny dip the entire year and Matt looked at me with one of his patented “oh really?” looks. He held on tighter to my hand and led me into the elevator and pushed the button that said Terrace / Pool Level.
“Are you serious?” I said with a laugh as we exited the elevator.
“Why not? You did say that you haven’t been skinny dipping the entire year, and the hotel does have a pool.”
I was struck silent by Matt’s sudden burst of spontaneity. The air was crisp and the lights were off by the pool. I followed Matt to the pool thinking we would just hang out by the deck chairs until he let go of my hand, stripped off his clothes and jumped into the pool. Splash.
Impressed by his boldness, I took to stripping and joined Matt in the pool with another big splash. Thankfully the pool was heated. I came up for air and looked at the stars in the night sky as Matt took me into his arms and kissed me until I couldn’t remember.
